Honorary Chairpersons Paul Sarbanes and Michael Oxley
In 2002, Senator Paul Sarbanes (D-MD) and Congressman Michael Oxley (R-OH) made history as primary sponsors of the most sweeping regulatory reform since the formation of the SEC in 1934. We are privileged that both graciously accepted Honorary Chairperson titles of SOX Institute from Prof. Sanjay Anand, Chairperson, SOX Institute; President and CEO, GRC Group.
Former Senator Paul Sarbanes served in the U.S. Senate for 30 years, retiring in 2007. He was the ranking member of the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, as well as the Special Whitewater Committee. He also served as the senior member of the Foreign Relations Committee, the Budget Committee, and the Joint Economic Committee.
Former Congressman Michael Oxley served in the U.S. Congress for 25 years, retiring in January 2007. During his tenure, he chaired the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Hazardous Materials, served as vice chair of the Subcommittee on Telecommunications, and chaired the Financial Services Committee.
In the words of Congressman Oxley: "I appreciate the work of SOX Institute in promoting good corporate governance and best internal control practices around the world. It is a pleasure and an honor to be affiliated with such an organization."
