SOX Classroom Training Formats

5-Day Comprehensive SOX Boot Camp

During the first day, we’ll review the fundamentals of Sarbanes-Oxley and offer a broad-based introduction to the legislation’s key tenets and industry-accepted frameworks and principles. Following an overview of the events that led to the passage of the legislation, as well as its history and impact, we discuss the role of the SEC and the PCAOB, as well as sustaining cost-effective compliance.

Next, we’ll cover the key sections and titles of the SOX Act, such as audit committees and auditor independence; CEO/CFO responsibility and certification; financial disclosures and internal controls; conflicts of interest and codes of conduct; whistleblower protection and corporate fraud; and white collar criminal penalties.

Then, we’ll introduce the COSO ERM components of internal environment, objective setting, event identification, risk assessment, risk response, control activities, information and communication, and monitoring. Finally, we’ll provide an introduction to specific frameworks, such as COBIT, ITIL, ISO, and AS.

On the second day, you’ll gain practical, hands-on experience with best practices for SOX Section 404 internal control documentation, including adequacy of existing documentation; entity-level policies and procedures; IT and infrastructure control policies, automated compliance tools, and working with independent auditors.

During the third day, we’ll build upon the second day’s documentation by exploring entity-level and activity-level testing controls, including an overview of audit and testing techniques; auditing control effectiveness; assessing the adequacy of control design; activity-level operating effectiveness; and documenting test procedures and results.

On the fourth day, we’ll present the big picture of SOX Section 404 compliance through project lifecycle management, including project scoping for entity-level and activity-level; identifying significant accounts; structuring the project team; documenting planning decisions; and sustaining cost-effective compliance.

Finally, on the fifth day, we’ll provide a comprehensive review that will prepare you for the CSOX certification examination. Afterwards, you will be able to take the certification exam on-site. Please note that you’ll need a notebook computer for the SOX exam. If you do not have one, please let us know when you register and we will provide you with one.

Successful completion of the onsite (proctored by classroom facilitator) certification exam will earn you the CSOX Certification credential (CSOX). If you already have the required SOX or SOX-related experience and have successfully completed the certification exam, you can apply for the CSOXP/M Credential (CSOXP/CSOXM).

3-Day The SOX Section 404 Boot Camp

Our Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 training provides you with the hands-on experience you need to successfully comply with both the spirit and the letter of the law. On the first day, you’ll gain practical, hands-on experience with best practices for SOX Section 404 internal control documentation, including adequacy of existing documentation; entity-level policies and procedures; IT and infrastructure control policies, automated compliance tools, and working with independent auditors.

During the second day, we’ll build upon the first day’s documentation by exploring entity-level and activity-level testing controls, including an overview of audit and testing techniques; auditing control effectiveness; assessing the adequacy of control design; activity-level operating effectiveness; and documenting test procedures and results.

On the third day, we’ll present the big picture of SOX Section 404 compliance through project lifecycle management, including project scoping for entity and activity; identifying significant accounts; structuring the project team; documenting planning decisions; and sustaining cost-effective compliance.

The fee for the class includes the certification exam. Your certification exam will be set up by the third day of class and will be available for you to take anytime/anywhere after the end of class.

Successful completion of the certification exam will earn you the CSOX Certification credential (CSOX). If you already have the required SOX or SOX-related experience and have successfully completed the certification exam, you can apply for the CSOXP/M Credential (CSOXP/CSOXM).
