The Certification that Opens Doors

Budgetary belt-tightening is keenly felt in IT departments around the country. These days, organizations are hesitant to invest in information technology when they don’t understand how IT can contribute to the bottom line. You’ll stand head and shoulders above your competition when you can demonstrate that, when used properly, information technology can drive an organization’s governance, risk management, and compliance efforts, making IT both cost-effective and sustainable. That’s why obtaining the GRC Group’s Certification in IT-GRC should be your next career goal.

The CGRC-IT (Certified in IT Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance) credential communicates that you have three years of professional experience and have been certified, though testing, as having the following knowledge:

  • The value proposition of IT
  • Comprehensive and integrated IT/business alignment
  • Planning, execution, and governance of IT
  • Flexible and scalable processes
  • Enabling technology
  • Demand management and alignment
  • Execution management
  • Performance, risk, and contingency management
  • Securing IT systems that store, process, or transmit organizational information
  • How to make well-informed risk management decisions to justify IT expenditures
  • Authorizing or accrediting IT systems as part of risk management
  • How to foster an organizational climate where IT risk is automatically considered
  • How information security issues translate to organizational security concerns
  • Roadmaps for effective security policy and controls
  • How to test IT security, policy, and governance
  • IT compliance and standards requirements
  • How to apply risk analysis techniques to technical audits
  • How information systems audit and assessment can be used to meet compliance issues

If you wish to delve deeper and specialize in one facet of IT-GRC, the GRC Group also offers the following credentials: Certified in IT Governance (CITG), Certified in IT Risk Management (CITR), and Certified in IT Compliance (CITC).

The GRC Group’s Pro-Level Certifications communicate that you have all of the knowledge associated with your specialty, along with 1,200 hours of related work experience over the past three years. The Pro-Level Certifications include Certified IT Governance Professional (CITCP), Certified IT Risk Management Professional (CITRP), Certified IT Governance Professional (CITGP), Certified IT Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance Professional (CGRCP-IT), and Certified IT Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance Manager (CGRCM-IT).

Once you are Certified, the GRC Group’s maintenance program ensures that your certification retains its value. Our member-only journals, our newsletters, our webinars, and other GRC Group learning activities help you stay abreast of developments in the field while keeping your certification current.
